Lorain man accused in father’s death has case bound over
The 22-year-old Lorain man who allegedly shot and killed his father Sept.
27 waived his right to a preliminary hearing Sept.
30 in Elyria Municipal
Court.
The case for Lamar C. Hudson Jr. was bound over to a Lorain County grand jury, according to court records.
Hudson Jr. allegedly shot and killed Lamar C. Hudson, 41, of Elyria, who was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, just after 11 p.m., according to police.
The younger Hudson is facing a charge of aggravated murder.
Hudson Jr. made his initial court appearance Sept. 29 in Elyria Municipal Court before Judge Gary C.
Bennett, but did not have a lawyer.
Bennett set a $1 million bond during that hearing.
Hudson Jr. received a court-appointed lawyer, Kenneth M. Lieux, after his initial appearance and the two met Sept. 29 as well as before the preliminary hearing to discuss the case, Bennett said.
The judge said he wanted to make sure Hudson Jr., had proper representation because of the seriousness of the charges.
“It’s a tragic family situation,” Lieux said. “We’ll be filing some motions once we get over the county court.”
Hudson Jr. is in the Lorain County Jail.
The elder Hudson suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
He was found in a 1998 Camaro stopped southbound in the 1400 block of Gulf Road after police responded to a call of shots fired.
