Grants to help local agencies

El Centro de Servicios Sociales and Oberlin Community Services received grants totaling $50,000 from the Community West Foundation, according to a news release.

Board of Directors for the Community West Foundation recently approved $627,500 in third quarter grants to nonprofit agencies that provide basic needs services to the community in Cleveland, Western Cuyahoga and Lorain counties.

Lorain County agencies El Centro received $30,000 and Oberlin Community Services will take in $20,000, according to the release.

“The mission of Community West Foundation is to advance the health and well-being of our community,” according to the release. “The staff and Board of Directors are guided by the words in Matthew 25:35-40.

“While their mission is based on these teachings, they are not affiliated with any particular religion. Their grantees, friends and donors come from diverse faiths and practices.”
