Lorain man, 63, dies in motorcycle crash

One-vehicle crash was on Quarry Road

The Elyria Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that took the life of a Lorain man on Oct. 2, according to a news release.

The one-vehicle crash involving a 2008 Harley Davidson Electra Glide took place at approximately 2:03 p.m. on County Road 30 (Quarry Road) south of Hornyak Court in Amherst Township.

The driver went off the right side of the roadway, striking a sign and was ejected.

The victim was identified as 63-year-old Kenneth Schmidt. He was transported by ambulance to Mercy Health-Lorain Hospital where he was pronounced dead, said the release.

Impairment is not suspected and the crash remains under investigation, the release related.
