It’s starting to sound a little like Christmas.

And, the Salvation Army in Lorain wants to lighten the burden this holiday season for some parents.

The Salvation Army’s 2021 Christmas toys assistance registration runs from Oct. 12-15.

Families with children age 12 and younger may apply to receive toys at the Lorain Salvation Army, 2506 Broadway.

“We’re in the process of accepting registration from the community,” said Lorain Salvation Army Lt. Tanish Bolton.

For registration, participants must bring a government-issued photo identification card or driver’s license along with a birth

certificate or current medical benefit card for each child.

Pickup of items will take place from Dec. 21-23 by appointment at the registered location.

Bolton said she hopes the toy program takes the pressure off of families.

“Even if they don’t have any means of getting toys for their kids, the Salvation Army is here to help them with that,” she said. “I hope it will impact them in a phenomenal way.”

Bolton said the Salvation Army also is accepting toy donations.

“We are accepting brand new toys and they can also be dropped off at the building,” she said.

Current office hours are from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Bolton said office hours will shift as the staff gears up for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign.

“Once the holiday season is in full swing, we will be opening later until 5 or 6 in the evening,” she said.

Bolton, and her husband, Shean, transferred from Cleveland Miles Park Corp in July.

The pair originally are from Jamaica.

Shean Bolton said they have been working with the Salvation Army since 2001 in various capacities.
