CAVS WIN IN ATLANTA

Lauri Markkanen dunks during the second half Oct. 6 in Atlanta. The Cavaliers bounced back from a preseason loss to the Chicago Bulls with a 99-96 win over at Atlanta on Oct. 6. Collin Sexton led all Cleveland scorers with 19 points in 33 minutes. Rookie third-overall pick Evan Mobley added eight points and 12 rebounds in 33 minutes. Mobley shot 4-for-11 from the field and came up empty on a trio of 3-point attempts. Four other Cavaliers reached double figures including new acquisitio­n Lauri Markkanen (11 points), Issac Okoro (12 points), Jarrett Allen (12 points) and Darius Garland (15 points). Allen and Mobley started in the frontcourt for Cleveland, while Markkanen came off the bench playing 19 minutes. Cam Reddish led all scorers with 20 points for the Hawks. Atlanta guard Trae Young did not play alongside Clint Capela, Danillo Gallinari and Bogdan Bogdanovic. The Cavaliers continue their preseason on Oct. 8 against the Indiana Pacers.
