HISTORIC HOME OWNERS THANK HELPERS ON RESTORATION
Restoring the historic William Seher Home at 329 W. Ninth St. became a one-project spark to the local economy, said owners Alicia and Earnest Burke. They thanked the local consultants and contractors who helped: • Darryl Bell, consultant with the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development • AJ Quality Construction • Quality Security Door Co. • ADT Construction • Rebecca Church of Budget Blinds
• Tile Shop • Michael and Cameron Taylor Painting • Born Landscaping • Lakeland Glass • Village Lighting & Supply • Esser & Sons Plumbing of Elyria • Adrian Brown — Electrical work
• Bradford Flooring • Elvis Hughes — Locksmith • Phil Masonry • Hayes Painting
• Jim Upholstery • Rodney Reynolds and American Midwest Mortgage • Lowes staff Darlene Hrynda and Jessica Daily other color schemes if guests want to bring in decorations for parties or meetings.
The kitchen is fully furnished with a cooktop stove and microwave and conventional ovens, plates, glasses, silverware, and the Burkes can line up a chef, if needed.
“You don’t have to do anything, but sit and eat,” Earnest Burke said.
There are dining and sitting rooms on the first floor.
Upstairs, there are three bedrooms, a full bathroom with a washer and dryer, and a sitting area with a refrigerator and coffee maker.
The couple said they have had opportunities to move out of Lorain. But, their business, employees and customers are in Lorain, along with their own new place to bring people in.
“I always say, you can go one house at a time to revitalize a neighborhood,” Earnest Burke said. “That was our goal.”
