Janet Kaye George (nee Elbert), 68, of Lorain unexpected­ly went home to be with the Lord on January 24, 2022 at St John’s Medical Center.

Born June 23, 1953 in Lorain, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Gus Joseph Elbert, Jr. and Virginia May (Wicker) Elbert. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1971. She went on to earn her LPN diploma and worked at The Lutheran Home in Westlake. She then earned her nursing degree and fulfilled her life calling by working as a Labor and Delivery nurse for many years at St. Joseph Hospital and Mercy Health in Lorain.

She was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Evangelica­l Church in Lorain. She had been active in Rainbow Girls as a Worthy Advisor and as a member of the Rainbow Girls Drill Team. She was also an active member in Lakeland Woman’s Club.

Janet enjoyed shopping, crocheting, spoiling her grandchild­ren, helping other people in any way that she could, bringing people together, and relaxing at home with her husband. She will be fondly remembered for her oversized personalit­y, infectious laughter, her generous, caring spirit, and enveloping love for family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Joseph William George, Sr.; sons Joseph William George, Jr. (wife Heather) and Jonathon Kyle George (wife Jennifer); grandchild­ren Harrison George, Jocelyn George, Jillian George, Elizabeth George, Juliana George, and Jonathon George Jr.; siblings Marshall Elbert, Judy Brown (Tom), and Sandra Whitman (Bruce); and many cherished nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Gus (Skeeter) Elbert III and stepfather Joseph Knuff.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 2 PM at First Lutheran Church, 1019 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 2 PM. The family asks that attendees please wear red in celebratio­n of Janet.
