Keystone senior awarded scholarshi­p from Better Business Bureau

The Better Business Bureau serving Greater Cleveland presented its Students of Integrity Awards to four Greater Cleveland high school students who personify integrity through their leadership, community service, academics, and strong character ethics.

Charles Magel, a senior at Keystone High School, was awarded a $2,000 scholarshi­p.

Charles’ guidance counselor said that “he is a hardworkin­g and motivated young man who serves as an inspiratio­n to his classmates.”

Charles has excelled both academical­ly and in his extracurri­culars, according to a release. He holds a 5.04 GPA and ranked first in his class at Keystone High School. He is actively involved in his school’s Student Council, where he served as class president and vice president.

Charles is also an accomplish­ed athlete and is a four-year letter recipient in cross country, for which he also won the Scholar Athlete award all four years in high school, as well as being named both Track and Field and Cross County Conference Champion.

Amidst his many school related activities, Charles still finds the time to volunteer in multiple community service endeavors, such as Safety Town, Math Challenge, and Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine ministry, and more.

As Charles’ guidance counselor said, “His dedication to his future through natural gifts and perseveran­ce stand as an example of what the future of our community and our country has in store.”

A total of 46 public and private high schools within BBB’s fivecounty service area participat­ed by selecting their own Student of

Integrity who in turn, submitted an essay to the BBB.

Three other students were awarded scholarshi­ps:

Jason Gamboa, Brecksvill­eBroadview Heights High School

Elise Donikowski, Andrews Osborne Academy

Mallory Sah, Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School.

Jacqueline Kaminski of Elyria High School was named as an honoree.
