Lorain City Schools is inviting families to a night full of activities and giveaways.

The Spring Fling event will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. May 11 at Lorain High School, 2601 Ashland Ave.

District Communications Coordinator Lisa Roberson said it is a community celebration.

“During the day our schools will participate in STEM activities as well as community service in the neighborhoods around our buildings,” she said. “Then we will all come together as a community in celebration.”

The district-wide, free event will include both inside and outside games including bouncy houses and zip lining.

“We’ll have a carnival-type atmosphere,” said Roberson. “We wanted to have a fun element to draw families in and give our kids a unique experience that they probably don’t get to do every day.”

The event is sponsored by Titan Family Action Members Network, said Roberson.

“This particular event is a first for us,” she said. “Titan F.A.M. is trying to foster more engagement and participation in our schools from the entire community.”

She said the event is not only for families.

“You don’t need to be a parent to be a part of Titan F.A.M. or become engaged in our schools,” said Roberson. “We believe that the entire community can offer something valuable to our families.”

Roberson said pre-registration is preferred, but not required.

“We encourage everyone to come together to support our schools and support our families,” she said.
