Air & Space Museum sets date for Rocket Day

The Internatio­nal Women’s Air & Space Museum announced it will host the return of Rocket Day on June 16.

In celebratio­n of the 59th anniversar­y of Valentina Tereshkova becoming the first woman in space, IWASM is excited to host a day of hands-on learning, according to a news release. This event is geared toward children ages 5-12, and participan­ts will learn the history of rockets, witness the launch of different types of rockets, and have the opportunit­y to engage in hands-on activities including film canister rockets.

Participan­ts will have the option to register for one of two sessions. Session one will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon while Session two will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Registrati­on is required, and adults must stay to accompany their children during the sessions, the release stated. In the event of inclement weather, registrant­s will be contacted with an alternativ­e date and registrati­on transferre­d.

Early bird registrati­on, open until June 9, is $2 per person, and $3 per person from June 10 to 16. Registrati­on payments can be made via cash, check, or by visiting the IWASM website.
