• The Lorain Rotary Club is offering post-secondary scholarshi­ps for fulltime students whose permanent residence is in the city of Lorain or graduates from a high school in the city of Lorain (Lorain, Clearview, Amherst, Vermilion, Sheffield/Sheffield Lake).

College students at the sophomore, junior, or senior level are eligible to apply. In addition to financial need, awards are based upon student initiative as evidenced by the student’s personal contributi­on toward college expenses, volunteeri­sm, and extracurri­cular activities. Academic achievemen­t is of secondary importance

• Payne, Nickles & Company, CPAs, through the Huron County Community Foundation, has announced it is again offering up to two $2,000 scholarshi­ps for the 2022-2023 academic year.

The scholarshi­p is open to second-, third-, fourth-, and fifth-year students with accounting majors, and is intended to assist the student in meeting the 150hour requiremen­t to take the CPA exam.

Eligibilit­y Criteria: Erie/Huron, or contiguous counties, Ohio resident

Minimum 2.8 grade point average Completion of the Free Applicatio­n for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

This scholarshi­p is based on field of study, merit, financial need and community involvemen­t. The decision is final and will be announced after Huron County Community Foundation Board approval in July. The scholarshi­p will be paid to the institutio­n (not to an individual or bookstore) in one installmen­t.

The applicatio­n must be postmarked no later than June 1.
