Tradition of 2nd Saturdays returning for rediscovery of city
An Oberlin tradition is returning July 9.
The 2nd Saturdays in Oberlin is a chance to discover — or rediscover — Oberlin, according to a news release from the Oberlin Business Partnership, a news release related.
Organizers are inviting people to come downtown Oberlin from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and have fun with the family, enjoy music and to see what is happening in stores and businesses, the release said.
A variety of events will take place for the first 2nd Saturday of the year, according to the release.
• Stock up on fresh veggies, etc. at the Oberlin Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to noon in the City Hall parking lot, 85 S. Main St.
• Treat the little ones to fun activities from 10 a.m. to noon in the East College Street Courtyard.
• Enjoy music on downtown sidewalks.
• Discover sales and promotional events in downtown shops and stores from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Learn about the important work that community and nonprofit organizations do from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Tappan Square, 67 N. Main St. Hear their stories and take home some promotional items.
• Find unique items in Sidewalk Sales all over downtown from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• White Squirrel Scavenger Hunt: Work as an individual or a team to find white squirrels hiding in downtown stores from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Find seven and enter the contest to win a $10 Oberlin gift certificate.
• Learn interesting things related to the Underground Railroad by taking a Guided Freedom’s Friends History Walk starting at 11 a.m. at First Church in Oberlin, 106 N. Main St.
