Proposed Lorain Eagles meets membership requirement

The new charter members of the proposed Lorain chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles officially are registered, and the proposed post has received the nod of approval to move ahead with a location.

“We have met the required 50 Aerie and 50 Auxiliary new memberships, and we have requested an institution,” said Dennis Flores, organizer of the proposed Aerie Fraternal Order of Eagles. Flores has been instrumental in getting the post revived in Lorain after its closure 40 years ago.

“Currently, we will use 383 Broadway as a temporary meeting place twice a month until we can get a lease agreement with Victor Nardini (the owner of the property),” Flores said.

Nardini is a new member and has been very helpful, Flores added.

Flores said he received a letter confirming the charter memberships from the Eagles’ headquarters in Grove City.

“Dear Brother Flores: Thank you very much for your eleventh (11th) report listing two (2) Charter Applicants and for MO#28038901432 in the amount of $100.00 which represents Charter Fees and Dues for the New Aerie being organized in Lorain, Ohio,” the letter stated. “To date, our records indicate a total of $1,260.00 received in charter fees and $1,260.00 in dues.

“Sixty-three (63) Charter Applicants have been reported for this unit. Fifty-nine (59) have been reported as new and four (4) have been reported as Dual. Although the requirements to schedule an institution are 50 New Aerie and 50 New Auxiliary Charter Applicants, which you have met, we encourage you to continue signing members.

“Unfortunately, there will be charter applicants who have signed up and paid the fees but will never appear to be initiated so you want to be sure that you have a large amount of applicants signed to assure you end up with a strong aerie and auxiliary,” the letter stated.

The letter was signed by Jim West, the new Aerie Auxiliary administrative chairman for the Eagles.

If all goes as planned, Flores estimated the Aerie Auxiliary post could open as soon as Sept. 15.

Anyone interested in becoming a Fraternal Order of Eagles member for the proposed Aerie Auxiliary in Lorain, can contact Flores at 440-444-8139.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international fraternal organization that consists of more than 850,000 members and was founded in 1898.

The Eagles is a foundation based on “people helping people,” Flores has said.
