A Lorain auto dealer is offering a cash reward for information leading to the recovery of three sedans stolen from his car lot early April 18.

Sam Saher, owner of Motor City Auto Sales, 1740 Colorado Ave., is offering the reward “to catch the bandit,” he announced on social media later in the day.

Three late model Dodge Chargers and a Chevrolet Malibu were stolen between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., Saher said.

“Lorain police are investigating, but in the meantime, the business is taking precautions to protect their inventory,” the post stated.

The front door of the business was damaged as the thieves made their entry into the shop, according to a police report.

When Saher entered the office, he said there were papers scattered throughout the room and cabinets and drawers were open, the report stated.

Once inside, the robbers apparently couldn’t find the keys, left and returned a short time later and found the keys to the stolen vehicles, Saher said.

One of the sedans was recovered in Cleveland, abandoned without the key, on the side of a roadway, Saher learned April 19.

The total loss of the vehicles added up to approximately $85,000, Saher said.

“This has been a very big loss,” he said while sitting at his desk at the dealership where the hustle of sales continued.

“It’s like a big hit. Yesterday, it was very painful. I could not sleep,” Saher said.

In addition to the vehicles, the robbers made off with two firearms — two 9 mm handguns — they found in Saher’s office, valued at about $600.

Saher believes the suspects are in their 20s based on the products they stole.

“Young people are crazy for the Chargers,” he said.

Saher encourages anyone who has information about the thefts to contact him at 440-674-6664 or the Lorain Police Department at 440-2042100.
