An Elyria woman was arrested after allegedly spraying a Hamilton Elementary School principal with mace April 19 as well as threatening a pregnant assistant principal at the school.

Jessica Houze, 27, was charged with assault on a school official, a fourth-degree felony, and criminal trespass, according to a police report.

Elyria police were called at 9:03 a.m. to Hamilton Elementary,

1215 Middle Ave., the report stated.

Houze has a child who attends Hamilton and reportedly was “arguing and yelling obscenities at his assistant principal and another school administrator” at the 13th Street side door entrance of the building, the report stated.

The officials were attempting to keep Houze from entering the building as it wasn’t a public entrance, the report noted.

The charge of criminal trespass was filed against her due to her allegedly not leaving when instructed by school officials, according to the report.

The principal opened the lobby doors to look for the ruckus, and Houze turned her attention to him with obscenities and said, “That’s the guy I want,” he told police.

The principal told Houze to leave and attempted to pull the doors shut, but she sprayed him in the face with the mace, the report stated.

Houze also is accused of pointing the spray at another school employee, but she didn’t spray her, the report stated.

Houze then left the area and officials contacted police.

A few hours later, Houze was booked into the Lorain County Jail after turning herself into the Elyria Police Department, police and jail records state.

She was released the following day and attended an arraignment hearing in the Elyria Municipal Court, the jail records stated.

A court hearing for Houze was scheduled for April 26.
