Blood donors needed, organization says

The American Red Cross is sending blood donations to hospitals faster than they are coming in, according to a news release.

Over the last two months, the Red Cross has collected about 50,000 fewer blood donations than needed, the release said.

From July 12 to Aug. 12, those who donate blood will be entered for a chance to win a three-night New York getaway for two with a private shark dive adventure at Long Island Aquarium, the release stated.

From July 17-31, donors will also receive an officially licensed Shark Week T-shirt, while supplies last.
