Retiring A’s reliever to owner: ‘Sell the team’

Athletics reliever Trevor May ripped Oakland owner John Fisher and implored him to sell the franchise while announcing his retirement in an empassione­d video message.

“Sell the team, dude. ... Sell it, man,” May said in a video posted on his Twitch stream. “Let someone who actually, like, takes pride in the things they own, own something. There’s actually people who give a (expletive) about the game. Let them do it. Take mommy and daddy’s money somewhere else, dork.”

Fisher’s parents founded Gap, Inc., and Fisher became majority owner of the A’s in 2005. He is attempting to relocate the A’s to Las Vegas after talks for a new stadium in the Bay Area fell through, prompting outrage and protests from fans in Oakland.

MONEY FOR BREWERS’ STADIUM APPROVED

>> The Wisconsin state Assembly has approved a plan to spend more than half a billion dollars to help cover repairs at the Milwaukee Brewers’ stadium. The Brewers contend that American Family Field’s glass outfield doors, seats and concourses should be replaced, that the suites and scoreboard need upgrades, and that its signature retractabl­e roof needs work.

NBA PORTER TRADED, WILL BE

WAIVED >> Kevin Porter Jr.’s time with the Rockets is over. A person with knowledge of the agreement says the Rockets agreed to trade Porter and a pair of secondroun­d draft picks to the

Thunder. Porter’s future in the NBA is uncertain because of serious legal issues. He will be immediatel­y waived by the Thunder once the trade gets league approval.

NFL COLTS OWNER: QB PROBABLY

OUT FOR YEAR >> Colts owner Jim Irsay says rookie quarterbac­k Anthony Richardson may need season-ending surgery on his injured right shoulder. Irsay told ESPN that surgery was the most likely treatment for Richardson’s sprained AC joint but a final decision has not been made.

COLTS DT SUSPENDED

>> The NFL suspended Colts starting defensive tackle Grover Stewart six games without pay for violating the league’s policy on performanc­e-enhancers. He can return to the team’s active roster Dec. 4.

FLAG FOOTBALL IN OLYMPICS

>> If Tyreek Hill and other NFL players want to switch to flag football for a summer and compete in the Olympics, the possibilit­y is becoming more real. NFL executive Peter O’Reilly said the league will work with the players’ union on allowing current and former players to participat­e after flag football was among five sports officially added to the 2028 Los Angeles Games by the Internatio­nal Olympic Committee.

The Eagles have signed Julio Jones to add veteran depth to their receiving corps. The seventime Pro Bowl selection hasn’t played since last season, his lone one with Tampa Bay.
