Lorain: Holly Herbert, 76, of Lorain, died Wednesday October 4, 2023 at the Kemper House in Highland Heights after suffering from dementia for the past 3 years. Holly was born September 28, 1947 in North Tonawanda, New York and graduated from North Tonawanda High School. She moved to Lorain when she was 19 and lived here most of her life. For many years, she spent her winters in Port St Lucie, Florida. Holly worked as a secretary at A-1 Welding & Fabricatin­g in Lorain before retiring. Holly had a passion for travel and boating with her partner of 45 years, Dan Balko. She truly enjoyed her cats and volunteere­d later in life fostering and rehoming many kittens. Walking, reading, biking, attending her grandchild­ren’s events and relaxing with a glass of wine were some of the other things Holly enjoyed in life. The cookies she baked were always a favorite with her friends and family. In her younger years she taught ceramics. She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Rogalski of Eastlake and Danielle Miranda (Charlie) of Medina; grandchild­ren: Andrew & Aubrey Miranda. She was proceeded in death by her father Earl R. Herbert. The family will receive friends Friday October 20, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain, OH 44055. A private family graveside will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township. The Rev Timothy O’Connor, pastor of St Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, will preside.
