TrueNorth to perform winter concert

TrueNorth will perform a winter concert, “Unwrapping Elements of Love … A New Creation,” at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 17, at Avon Lake Presbyteri­an Church, 32340 Electric Blvd. in Avon Lake, according to a news release.

This is a non-ticketed performanc­e, but a love offering will be taken to help defray concert expenses, the release said.

The TrueNorth Chorale and Chamber Orchestra will present René Clausen’s “A New Creation,” featuring solo quartet: Janine Porter, soprano; Jennifer Bertoni, alto; Anthony Trifiletti, tenor; and Timothy LeFebvre, bass.

Porter and Bertoni are part of the TrueNorth Chorale and are known throughout the area, performing in opera, musical theater and as featured soloists throughout Northeast Ohio, according to the release.

Trifiletti is on the Board of Trustees for TrueNorth Cultural Arts and served for eight years as TrueNorth’s music director in its musical theater division.

He’s the new director for Choral Spectrum and director of music at Lorain’s St. Peter’s Parish.

LeFebvre has wide-ranging experience from the operatic stage to the concert hall and is currently associate professor of voice chair at Oberlin Conservato­ry of Music, according to the release.

The TrueNorth Chorale sings a wide range of works ranging from the masters to the contempora­ry, sacred and secular, musical theater and patriotic, according to the release.

The TrueNorth Chamber Orchestra collaborat­e with the TrueNorth Chorale and other soloists with multiple concerts throughout the year.

The TrueNorth season continues Palm Sunday afternoon, March 24, as it will present Dan Forrest’s “Requiem for the Living,” according to the release.

On May 4, TrueNorth will present a “Concert of Peace” featuring Ralph Vaughan William’s Dona Nobis Pacem.
