African Safari Wildlife Park marks World Wildlife Day
Celebrates by making conservation contributions
African Safari Wildlife Park, located at 267 S. Lightner Road in Port Clinton, is celebrating World Wildlife Day on March 3 by making a $600 contribution to three organizations dedicated to conserving wild animals around the world, according to a news release.
The release said the following nonprofits will receive $200 each:
• Gibbon Conservation Center, located in Santa Clarita, Calif., which is dedicated to conserving, studying and caring for Gibbons
• Giraffe Conservation Foundation, located in Orlando, Fla., which is dedicated to protecting giraffe throughout Africa
• WildAid, located in San Francisco, Calif., which is dedicated to combatting the illegal wildlife trade
The recipients were selected by Ashley Hamrick, Seth Hojnacki, Kelsey Keller, Makayla Kopriver, Sophie Nader, Brandon Ramsey, Dylan Shea, Danielle Tran and Elliot Zirulnik, who are a group of employees who make up the Park’s conservation committee and provide guidance on conservation programming, according to the release.
The contributions came from Guardian of Wildlife, the Park’s 501(c)(3) organization that exists to promote and support wildlife conservation and is funded primarily by donations from Park guests, the release said.
Since 2016, Guardian of Wildlife has gifted more than $28,000 to nonprofits around the world, according to the release.
Donations to Guardians of Wildlife can be made at www.africansafariwildlifepark.com/donate, the release said.
“These contributions are the latest gifts in the Park’s long history of supporting conservation programs through Guardian of Wildlife,” said Park director Kelsey Keller in the release. “We encourage everyone to learn more about these organizations and think about how to make a positive difference for wildlife through their everyday actions.”
The Park is reopening March 22.
