Wellington Exempted Village School District Superintendent Edward Weber announced March 19 in a news release that Janet Kubasak, Ed.D, has been named the new director of curriculum and special projects for the district.

This newly created position focuses on curriculum, professional development, data review to support staff and student growth along with federal programs, the release said.

Kubasak has served as the Westwood Elementary School principal since August 2020.

During her time as principal, she increased the state score for Westwood Elementary to 4.5 stars with an “exceeds state standards” rating from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, according to the release.

Kubasak has implemented structured literacy practices in her building and is a strong leader with immense curricular knowledge and expertise, the release said.

“We have been fortunate to benefit from Dr. Kubasak’s strong experience as a regional data lead for the state of Ohio,” Weber said in the release. “Prior to her time at Westwood, she worked with struggling schools to increase their curricular effectiveness and academic scores.

“In this role, Dr. Kubasak analyzed data, completed needs assessments and helped to develop specific district and building-wide plans to address areas of needed improvement. She demonstrated effective leadership, through supporting teachers with the new curriculum process.

“I am thrilled to have her impacting students and staff in this newly created role as director of curriculum. I know she will have a positive impact on all students throughout our district.”
