Public Health agency maintains national accreditation status
Huron County Public Health (HCPH) has successfully completed a review process to maintain national accreditation status through the Public Health Accreditation Board, according to a news release.
In maintaining its accreditation status for another five years, the Huron County Public Health has demonstrated that it meets the Public Health Accreditation Board’s quality standards and measures and has the capacity to continue to evolve, improve and advance to continue improving the health of Huron County, the release said.
“We are happy to again be recognized by (the Public Health Accreditation Board) for achieving national standards for public health practice,” said Timothy Hollinger, Huron County Public Health commissioner in the release.
Huron County Public Health achieved initial accreditation status in the year 2015 through the Public Health Accreditation Board, after undergoing a rigorous, multi-faceted, peer-reviewed assessment process to ensure it met the quality standards and measures for the Accreditation Board requirements, the release said.
This process was a collaborative multi-year effort of all-staff at Huron County
Public Health to ensure that each requirement was carefully met, according to the release.
The announcement goes a step further by demonstrating that Huron County Public Health has the capacity to become increasingly effective at providing public health services to the community, the release said.
“We are extremely pleased to be at the point in the accreditation program where Huron County Public Health, along with many others, are successfully maintaining their fiveyear accreditation status through (the Public Health Accreditation Board” said Paul Kuehnert, president and CEO of the Public Health Accreditation Board in the release. “In so doing, these health departments are assuring their communities that the value of accreditation is long term — not a one-time recognition — and that continual improvement is the hallmark of a 21st century organization.”
