Elyria man arrested after reportedly assaulting teen girl
Elyria police arrested a 43-year-old Elyria man April 7 for allegedly assaulting a 13-year-old girl.
Harry Stevenson III is facing charges of domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony, and assault, a first-degree misdemeanor, according to an Elyria Police Department report.
At 4 a.m., an officer was patrolling the area of East Avenue and 2nd Street when the teenager, who was “hysterical and crying and screaming” waved the officer down saying she’d been beaten by Stevenson, an acquaintance of her mother, the report stated.
The girl told the officer she saw Stevenson drinking alcohol and smoking cannabis at their apartment in the 100 block of 2nd Street throughout the night.
At some point, Stevenson entered the girl’s bedroom yelling about strawberries, according to the report.
The argument turned physical when Stevenson attacked the girl, the report stated.
She told the officer “she was thrown and pushed around and Harry punched her in the face multiple times,” the report stated.
The victim’s brother ran down the street to meet with officers confirming his sister’s scenario of the incident.
The boy also told the officer his mother didn’t see anything that happened because she needs her walker to get up, the report stated.
The boy also supplied police with recordings of some of the verbal arguments that had taken place with Stevenson.
Meanwhile, the officer noted the girl had swelling and redness on her right and left side of her face, the report stated.
After reviewing Stevenson’s criminal history, police charged him with an elevated count of domestic violence due to a prior conviction in 2004, the report stated.
Stevenson was transported to the Lorain County Jail where he is being held with no bond option pending a court appearance April 9 in Elyria Municipal Court, the report stated.
