4-H Endowment Board’s dinner, auction successful
Lorain County 4-H Endowment Board members announced that the outcome of their annual dinner and auction was a success, according to a news release.
The event, which took place April 6 at German’s Villa, 3330 Liberty Ave. in Vermilion, also had its largest turnout to date, the release said.
“It was a very successful evening,” said Beth Clegg, president of the 4-H Endowment Board in the release. “Participation was the answer; we were very excited about the turnout, but even more thrilled about the results.”
“So far, we have exceeded $26,000 net,” said Renee Tollett, treasurer of the 4-H Endowment Board in the release.
Donations from businesses and individuals throughout the region provided nearly 200 baskets that surrounded German’s Villa, according to the release.
The live auction included a “Ride with a Deputy Sheriff,” a weekend cottage getaway, a tour and wine tasting event at Gideon Winery, a custom made fire pit and so much more, the release said.
With the generosity of those bidding and buying, the funds collected from the dinner and auction will provide funding for many college scholarships, grants for local 4-H programs and 4-H campers to Kelleys Island, according to the release.
“We would also like to say ‘thank you’ to Cliff German of German’s Villa for the hospitality,” the release said.
The Lorain County 4-H Endowment Board is a 17 member group with a mission to manage funds that support 4-H education within Lorain County.
“Events like our annual dinner and auction make that support sustainable for years to come,” the release said.
