Despite heavy roster turnover, the Rangers are a program-best 9-0thanks to Xavier Compton’s walkoff two-run single to beat Westlake, which flipped spots with the Rangers. Coach Matt Ponting’s charges have already swept three SWC foes, and have outperform­ed expectatio­ns. … Just outside of last week’s games counted toward the first Crop, Amherst’s victory over top-10state-ranked Akron Hoban on April 7and sweep of Avon Lake helped catapult the Comets into the top four from the watch list. … The last five teams were a little harder to rank, with Elyria Catholic winning a coin flip with Avon Lake for the sixth spot. The Panthers take on No. 1Rocky River in a two-game set April 15and 16. … Rounding out No. 8through No. 10 are Midview, Keystone and the newly installed Open Door. … Bay and Wellington both had cases to remain in the top 10 but will be knocking on the door from the watch list.
