Ohio voter registrati­on deadline is Feb. 16

The Ohio Secretary of State reminds voters the deadline to register to vote for the March 15 primary is Feb. 16.

The deadline to register to vote in the March 15, 2016, Presidenti­al Primary Election is Feb. 16, Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted reminds voters in a news release.

Voter registrati­on forms are available at MyOhioVote.com, county board of elections and local libraries.

If sent via U.S. mail, regi strat ion for ms must be postmarked by Feb. 16 to be considered valid. All 88 county boards of elections, including the Secretary of State’s office in downtown Columbus, will be open until 9 p.m. on Feb. 16 to accept registrati­on forms, according to the release.

Voters can also check their voter registrati­on status, update their informatio­n and utilize the Online Change of Address System at MyOhioVote.com. All Ohioans are encouraged to confirm and update their registrati­on on or before Feb. 16, particular­ly if a voter has not voted in a long time, changed their name or changed their residence.

Ballots for military and overseas voters became available on Jan .29. Military voters who have not yet registered to vote or submitted a request for an absentee ballot may still do so by visiting Ohio-Militar yVotes.com or OhioVoterP­assport.com for overseas voters. There they can download the Federal Post Card Applicatio­n, register to vote and request an absentee ballot, read through frequently asked questions, tra ck t he st atus of t heir mailed ballot and sign up for election reminders via email and socia l media . All voters can also contact their county board of elections directly for more informatio­n.

All Ohio voters may begin voting on Feb. 17, 2016 (f i rst day af t er t he close of registrati­on) via in-person and by mail-in absentee ballot.
