Carlton Bragg is looking for his next college basketball stop after recently announcing he is transferring from the University of Kansas.

According to a report, Bragg is interested in talking to Ohio State coach Thad Matta, presumably about a return to Ohio.

Chip Miller of D1Vision.com, a high school and college basketball web site, tweeted on April 13:

“Source close to the situation reports Kansas transfer Carlton Bragg is interested in talking with Thad Matta and Ohio State.”

Bragg is a Villa Angela-St. Joseph grad and The News-Herald’s 2015 boys basketball player of the year.

When he signed with the Jayhawks as a VASJ senior, Bragg was one of the nation’s top recruits, but his time at Kansas didn’t pan out.

“This past year didn’t go as well as I thought it would and it’s in my best interest to get a fresh start,” Bragg said in a statement announcing he was transferring. “I want to thank my

teammates, coaches and the fans for all their support these past two years. I will always cheer for the Jayhawks.”

He was granted his release from Kansas on April 6.

It’s also been reported the University of Illinois has contacted Bragg, a 6-foot-10 forward.

Wherever Bragg decides, he will need to sit out the 2017-18 season, per NCAA rules.

Bragg was mostly a backup his first two seasons

under Coach Bill Self at Kansas and made headlines the last for mostly the wrong reasons.

Two incidents put a damper on Bragg’s final season in Lawrence, Kansas. The first was when he was accused of pushing a woman down a flight of steps, though evidence showed him acting in self defense. The next was when drug paraphernalia was linked to Bragg following an separate investigation at Kansas’ dormitory for the basketball team.

Bragg was eventually granted diversion by Lawrence Municipal Court. The agreement for first-time offenders means the charges will be dismissed if Bragg does not commit another crime.

Bragg was suspended by Self following the incidents and later reinstated each time.

Last season, Bragg averaged 5.2 points and 4.1 rebounds. In two seasons, he averaged 4.4 points per game while playing 11 minutes a game.
