Annual cookoff: The 29th Annual “Cookin’ for Life Chili Cook-Off” will be 4 to 8 p.m., April 22, at New Promise church, 8671 Chardon Road, Kirtland. Sponsored by the Geauga County Right to Life and What’s Right What’s Left Ministries, the evening will include chili, chili-dogs, chicken with take-out available. Take-out a pint for $5 and a quart for $8. Tickets will be available at the door. Admission for adults (age 14 and older) will be $12; ages six to 13, $6 and those age five and younger will be admitted free. Golf outing: Bethel Lutheran Church in Willowick, will host the 7th annual Bethel Outreach Golf Outing on June 16, 2017 at the Briardale Greens Golf Course in Euclid. The event will begin with a shotgun start at 9am and will be a four-person scramble format. All proceeds from the Tournament will go to directly to support local programs in our community. These programs include the Willowick Food Pantry and Willowick youth sports. Golfers of any skill-level are invited to participat­e in the Tournament. Players may register as a foursome, but golfers who register individual­ly or in groups less than four will be combined to complete a foursome wherever possible. The $75/person entry fee covers: • 18 Holes of golf with cart • Free range balls prior to the start of your round • Gift bag for each golfer • Coffee and donuts in the morning • Hotdogs, chips, and beer at the turn • Dinner that includes both ribs AND chicken following your round • One Raffle ticket entering you into the drawing for the door prize Also planned are a 50⁄50 Drawing, Gift Raffle, Holein-One Contest and other optional special events throughout the course. The Tournament Committee is also currently seeking corporate sponsors, hole sponsors, as well as gifts and prizes for the raffle. Orwell United Methodist Church, 80 South Maple, Orwell, will host a rummage and bake sale, (in basement/use side door) 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 4-5 and 9 a.m. to noon, May 6. Saturday will be bag day with bags being $2 each. Call 440-437-6661 if you have questions
