Residents invited to share comments on re-zoning requests
Residents are invited to share their comments on two re-zoning requests during a public hearing at the Painesville City Council meeting on July 19.
The Planning Commission recommended the re-zoning of both parcels at its May 11 meeting, said City Planner Lynn White .
One request is for the parcel located at 776 Mentor Ave. to be rezoned from R-2 Multi Family to B-1 Business/Residential District. The property has an existing commercial establishment that has been in operation since 1995.
White says the owner would like to sell it. Re-zoning it to B-1 allows that location to be used in the future as a smaller scale and intensity business use for the location.
She says the property is located between residentially zoned Westwood
Village Condominiums and Rider’s Inn, which is business residential.
According to City Manage Monica Irelan’s legislative report, this smaller scale and intensity of use should not have a detrimental effect on the existing residential character of the area or the established business use of Rider’s Inn.
The B-1 zoning category permits the continuation
of the current use.
The second proposal is for a parcel located on North State Street to be rezoned from S-1 Special to M-1 Light Industrial District.
Irelan will be executing an agreement with Growth Orchard, LLC for the sale/lease of approximately 3 acres of property on North State Street given the City Council’s prior approval at the Special
Council Meeting on April 24.
The rezoning to M-1 Light Industrial District allows this location to be used for the construction of a 35,000 square foot light manufacturing facility for the cultivation and processing of medical marijuana.
The public hearing will begin at 8 p.m. at City Hall in Municipal Courtroom #1.
