William Donald Jackson, 88, lifelong resident of Burton, passed away day, June 15, 2017 at UH Geauga cal Center.

He was born on October 9, 1928 in Cleveland, son of Everett and Ada (Street) Jackson. He was a U.S. Navy WW II Veteran. William retired from Geauga County Highway Dept. as a foreman. He was owner of Bill and Dave’s Sohio Gas Station in Newbury; worked for Standard Oil; drove a steel rig and worked for Nightingal­e ing. He also ran ambulance with Russell Funeral Service years ago. He was a member of Burton Congregati­onal Church and Burton Vol. Fire Department. William was the Fire Chief for years and was instrument­al in starting EMT/Rescue squad with Alan Nichol. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, ing, playing pinochle, and working on cars. After retirement, he enjoyed being a snowbird in Florida. His family and friends will miss him.

William is survived by his son William (Caryn) Jackson of Columbus; two daughters, Helen (Jim) Safranek of West Farmington and Pat Tutsock (Companion Sam Warren) of Newbury; five grandchild­ren, Christophe­r (Chaz) Safranek, Jennifer (Rob) Wadas, Kathy (James) Taylor, William son, and David Jackson; four great grandchild­ren, Nicholas Safranek, Ariana Wadas, Sophia Wadas, and Alexis ranek; five siblings, Robert (Nancy) Jackson, Ken Miller, Susan (George) Neff, Tom (Ruth) Jackson, and Diane (Bob) Bowman.

He is preceded in death by his wife Carol J (Brown) son of 61 years before she passed away in 2012; his parents, Everett Jackson, Ada Jackson Miller, Step father William er; and a son-in-law Gary Tutsock.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held 11:00 – 1:00 pm with a Celebratio­n of Life at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Russell-Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefiel­d, OH 44062. Burial will follow at Welton Cemetery.
