Troy elected to NARC Board
Lake County Commissioner Daniel P. Troy has been appointed to serve as an at-large representative for the Board of Directors of the National Association of Regional Councils.
NARC supports regionalism by “advocating for regional cooperation on a variety of issues,” according to a news release. Those issues include transportation, economic and community development, environment, public safety, emergency management, and community issues undertaken by its member organizations.
According to its website, as a national public interest organization, NARC works with and through its members to:
• Shape federal policy that recognizes the increased value of local intergovernmental cooperation
• Advocate effectively for the role of regional councils in the coordination, planning and delivery of current and future federal programs
• Provide research and analysis of key national issues and developments that impact our members
• Offer high quality learning and networking opportunities for regional organization through events, training and technical assistance. Members include councils of government and metropolitan planning organizations such as the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency. Troy is a NOACA board member and served as president of the board last year.
Troy was elected to NARC’s board at the organization’s 51st Annual Organizational meeting in June.
“As a lifetime resident of Northeastern Ohio, Commissioner Troy has encouraged others to work together for the good of the region,” NOACA Executive Director Grace Gallucci said in a statement. “Commissioner Troy will bring his wealth of knowledge to this national position and contribute greatly to NARC’s leadership. It will also give Northeast Ohio a larger voice at the national level.”
Troy was elected Lake County Commissioners in 1998 and served as a state representative for 14 years prior to that.
In 2011 he won NOACA’s Walter F. Ehrnfelt, Jr. Award for Outstanding Regional Contribution.
