Tony Fisher award watch list

The Tony Fisher Award goes to the player of the year for The News-Herald area each season. This year’s award, which is named after the 1997 Ohio Mr. Football recipient from Euclid who went on to play at Notre Dame and in the NFL, will be presented on Nov. 20, in a special show at Hooley House in Mentor. (In alphabetic­al order)

Kolston Brewster, Perry:

Completed 19 of 22 passes for 374 yards and six touchdowns in the Pirates’ 50-21 win over Girard. For the season, he has passed for 2,839 yards and 35 touchdowns.

Jayden Cunningham, University:

Finished the season with 1,748 yards and 16 touchdowns, while also running for 917 yards and 17 scores. He also intercepte­d eight passes, returning three for touchdowns.

Nick Demchuk, Benedictin­e:

Finished the season with 2,272 yards passing and 21 touchdowns.

Godwin Joe, Brush:

Threw for 157 yards and ran for 13 in the Arcs’ 49-0 loss to Akron Hoban. Finished the season with 2,324 yards and 28 touchdowns, while rushing for 862 yards and 12 scores.

Chase Kline, Chardon:

Finished the season with 129 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, nine sacks and seven pass breakups.

Ronald Lee, Euclid:

Carried 24 times for 100 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers’ 45-22 loss to St. Ignatius. Finished the season with 2,304 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns.

Manni Malone, NDCL:

Had nine tackles and a tackle for loss in the Lions’ 22-7 loss to Canfield. Finished the season with 89 tackles, 10 sacks and 31 tackles for loss on defense, with 535 rushing yards and six touchdowns on offense.

Isaac Pettway, Wickliffe:

Carried 14 times for 142 yards and a touchdown in the Blue Devils’ 44-6 loss to Black River. Finished the season with 1,579 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns.

Jack Porter, Kenston:

Finished the season with 1,428 yards rushing and 22 touchdowns.

Tadas Tatarunas, Mentor:

Completed nine of 23 passes for 90 yards and a touchdown in the Cardinals’ 21-13 win over St. Edward. For the season, he has thrown for 2,809 yards and 29 touchdowns and has run for 310 yards and six scores.

Joey Torok, Kirtland: Rushed for 50 yards and caught a 36-yard touchdown pass in the Hornets’ 34-28 win over Mogadore. For the season, he has run for 1,213 yards and has scored 17 touchdowns.
