Lake Erie College announces new vision and mission
Lake Erie College has set new goals for the New Year in its 201821 strategic plan.
President Brian Posler said this is an exciting time for the private Painesville college.
“Our new plan is very focused on student success and is entitled, ‘Supporting. Empowering. Thriving.’,” he said. “I’m particularly proud of our new mission and vision statements and each of our four themes supported by strong goals that will help us accomplish our mission.”
The new mission and vision statements were recently approved by its directors.
The mission states that “Lake Erie College provides an excellent, inclusive, and highly personalized education grounded in the liberal arts tradition. Guided by hope and care, our students are empowered to lead lives of personal significance and professional success as global citizens.”
The vision statement notes the college is committed to being mission-driven, fostering strong partnerships and collaboration in the region, service to the community, embracing diversity and inclusion and helping students successfully reach their academic goals.
The college’s new vision is to
empower students by successfully integrating selfdiscovery, the development of strong personal attributes, creative problem solving and the balance of personal and professional goals with the needs of others into the learning experience.
The plan features four themes — academic program and learning spaces; enrollment and finance; compensation, benefits and professional development; and diversity, inclusion and our sense of place. The goals include:

• Ensuring that the students have sufficient access to academic support services
• Investing in all of the faculty by supporting professional development, enhancing compensation levels and the strategic expansion of faculty members
• Completing a compensation and benefits analysis
• Listening carefully to employee feedback and crafting clear action plans regarding improving the workforce environment and productivity
• Ensuring all employees have access to professional development opportunities and appropriate technology
• Strategically aligning staffing levels in areas critical to the success of this plan
• Implementing the 2017 Diversity and Inclusion Plan
