Lake County YMCA, with multiple locations in the region, has added another, or, as Y Marketing Director Dave Saifman put it, “a smaller, yet important presence.”

Lake County Y announced Dec. 26 it has opened an information kiosk in the Great Lakes Mall in an effort to continue “building skills, relationships and community.” It comes after months of communication with the Mentor mall.

“We’ve tried over the past several years to establish a presence where we could have ongoing visibility,” Saifman said. “Normally we campaign during bigger events and programs, like our Dream House, but we also always wanted to see more consistency to let the community know where we are and what we do. We thought about where people gather. With over a million people visiting the mall throughout the year, we believe Great Lakes Mall to be a perfect spot. It really fits our needs.”

In addition to program and promotional information, memberships, spirit gear and gift cards

can be purchased at the kiosk. All locations of Lake County Y are represented. The Y kiosk will open Jan. 1 during regular mall hours. The kiosk will be worked by Lake County Y staff.

“We are always seeking new ways of connecting with our community to share our success stories and encourage others to become involved with our programs to make their own success stories,” said Lake County Y CEO Dick Bennett. “At the Y, we nurture life lessons in kids, foster health and well-being among people of any age, bring people together to pursue passions old and new, and provide mutual support for everyone in our neighborhoods.”

The Y is also offering a new two-person family membership. Two adults in the same household or one adult and one dependent child age 23 or younger living in the same household pay $59.50 per month.

“Having a face to connect with more members in the community at Great Lakes

The Y is also offering a new two-person family membership.

Mall will allow us to expand our mission to serve everyone, regardless of age, background or income, and build a better us — a stronger community,” said Bennett.

Kate Miller, marketing director of Great Lakes Mall, is excited to welcome Lake County Y.

“As the town center in the Mentor area, our focus remains on providing the community with a dynamic mix of services, events and activities throughout the year,” she said. “The addition (of Lake County YMCA) demonstrates our commitment to the community and reaffirms Great Lakes Mall as a family friendly retail, dining and entertainment destination.”
