Crop comments: Gilmour finishes off the year ranked No. 1 in the Crop after Naz Hillmon hung 35 points and 20 rebounds on John Hay. Lake Catholic is up next for the Lancers. .. North wrapped up a WRC title and then took down Perry in the regular season finale. But to be honest, there are much easier tournament openers for a top seed than Euclid. That’ll be tighter than many expect it to be . ... Kirtland finished the regular season 22-0 and now embarks on a Division III tourney trail the Hornets hope leads to the

regional level . ... Cornerstone wrapped up its regular season with a win over non-OHSAA school Andrews. Now for the Patriots is the Orwell Division IV tournament, where they should roll . ... Perry lost to North, but doesn’t drop because most of the teams already behind them have lost to the Rangers, too. The Pirates will hope to find their offense, which abandoned them against North, in the Ashtabula D-II district . ... Geneva got an easy one in the tournament opener against Lakeside. The Eagles are the type of tenacious team no one likes to see in the tournaments. ... Kenston finished the regular season 16-6 and is expected to make a pretty good tournament run. Even after losing Rayonna Peterson (knee), the Bombers kept their winning ways . ... Mentor stays at No. 8 after a lopsided tournament win over South. The Cardinals now face a Chardon team they needed overtime to beat earlier this year . ... Chardon is right on Mentor’s heels at No. 9. Can the Hilltoppers turn the table on the Cardinals in the tournament to avenge an early-season loss? ... NDCL is 16-6 and likely a little underrated here. They’ll have a chance to prove it in the tournament in a likely district semifinal against Perry.
