Friends McLean Adams, who lives in Concord Township, and Fairport Harbor Village resident Kyle Farrell took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather Feb. 28 and paid a visit to Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park.

The pair said they often visit the Lake Metroparks property to view the birds there and enjoy the mellow atmosphere the park offers.

“We’re amateur ornithologists, so we like to come here and see what kinds of birds are around,” Farrell said, adding that the temperatures, which reached into the upper-50s in Fairport Harbor Village Feb. 28, made for an especially pleasant walk along the lake. “There was some great coloration today because of the weather change.”

Farrell said he routinely strolls the beach in Fairport and Adams said he joins his friend when he’s able.

“We just like to come here and chill out,” Adams said.

Both Lake County men said they enjoy the area’s trails and often make use of local destinations like River Road Park and the Cleveland Metroparks’ North Chagrin Reservation.

The pair agreed the afternoon’s warm weather and relatively dry conditions were an unexpected treat.

It might be short-lived as snow is in tonight’s forecast.
