A man was killed at a Willowick bar in the early morning hours April 13 in what police believe to be a targeted shooting.

According to Willowick police, the department received a call on its non-emergency line at 1:18 a.m. that someone had been shot at the Willowick Cafe, 28809 Lake Shore Blvd.

Police said surveillance footage shows the shooter — unknown race or gender — enter the bar through the rear side door. The shooter went directly up to the victim and shot him three times. The shooter immediately turned and left through the same door.

Several other patrons who were in the vicinity of the shooting fled the bar prior to officers arriving. Police said it appears the victim was sought out by the shooter, and there was no previous altercation or interaction between the shooter and the victim.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting with processing the crime scene. BCI officials were still at the scene taking photographs after 8 a.m.

A Willowick police dispatcher told The News-Herald the victim was identified as 26-year-old Derrick Moore.

Police said any and all video

recordings are being retained as they are critical to the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Willowick Police Department at 440-585-1234. All information can be referred to Detective Greg Spakes.
