Government offices closing for holiday

Most federal, state and local government offices will be closed May 28 in observance of Memorial Day.

These include Euclid City Hall and Willowick city offices.

It is recommende­d that residents planning on visiting a government office that day should call ahead to confirm it is open.

Garden club to hear from Master Gardener

The Willowick Garden Club will host its next regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m., June 6, at Lake Metroparks Lakefront Lodge, 30525 Lake Shore Blvd. in Willowick.

The June Program is “The Secret Life of Trees” with Master Gardner Phyllis Mihalik.

Mentor preparing public auction

Mentor and its Police Department announced a public auction will be held at 10 a.m. June 9.

It will take place behind the Police Department at 8500 Civic Center Blvd.

Unclaimed property, evidence and surplus city property to be sold “as is” include: bicycles, tools, “new” clothing and other miscellane­ous items, according to a news release. Only cash or personal check with identifica­tion will be accepted.

Items may be viewed the day of the auction beginning at 9 a.m.

Mentor library now lending ukuleles

Mentor Public Library announced that library patrons can now borrow soprano and concert ukuleles from the library.

All they need is an adult card in good standing, and the library will lend them a ukulele for two weeks, according to a news release. The ukulele kit includes a tuner and beginner’s lesson book, as well.

There are no renewals, and overdue fines are $5 per day.

The library is hosting several musically themed programs this summer, since its theme for Summer Reading is “Libraries Rock,” including concerts, rock ’n roll author visit, and more. For more informatio­n, visit https://bit. ly/2wYvAYO.
