Working Dog Weekend returns to Farmpark
Working Dog Weekend barks its way back into Lake Metroparks Farmpark June 9 and 10.
Holding true to continuing to feature traditional events, and dogs and trainers meet-and-greets, visitors will also be in for some new attractions.
“This year, we are hosting the qualifying rounds for the national Frisbee dog competition,” said Events Manager Andy McGovern. “It’ll be exciting. Also, we will be introducing our new border collie, Robin.
“And of course, guests will see demonstrations by Lake County police K-9 units and discover the many sports and activities they can enjoy with their four-legged friends.”
Agility groups and The Big Creek Search Dog Team — K-9 handlers assisting agencies in locating missing persons — will also be on hand showcasing their talents.
Children can try their “paws” at canine jobs and games, too, such as guiding the blind, flyball and more.
A stuffed toy dog “parade of breeds” will also be featured during the event.
“If you’re looking for a new best friend, you’ll be able to find one here,” McGovern said. “At 11 a.m. on June 10 only, Lake Humane Society will have six puppies on-site ready for adoption.
“Working Dog Weekend is always fun — we’ll also be doing a lot of indoor stuff all through Farmpark.”
Working Dog Weekend is sponsored by Ganley Subaru East, Discount Drug Mart and Centerra Co-op.
Regular Farmpark admission applies. Farmpark members and children under 2 get in free.
Due to the nature of this event and facility, pets are prohibited.
Lake Metroparks Farmpark is located at 8800 Euclid Chardon Road in Kirtland.
