Richmond Street project continues
Painesville’s largest road project, the waterline replacement and resurfacing of Richmond Street, set for 2018 is coming along, despite a slight delay.
The second and final phase of the project will begin July 30. This date was rescheduled from the original July 23 start date.
ODOT will be running this portion of the project and will be resurfacing Richmond Street and extensions in parts of Painesville, Painesville Township, Fairport Harbor and Grand River, according to the news release.
Richmond Street between Erie Street and Heisley Road and Richmond Street between Skinner Avenue and the Grand River in the City of Painesville
and Painesville Township will be resurfaced, according to ODOT.
Traffic will be maintained, but delays are expected. The project is scheduled for completion this fall. However, no exact date has been set, the release also said.
Phase one of the twopart plan consisted of the completion of all the waterline work in June.
The project replaced cast iron pipe that was over 50 years old with plastic. It will improve water quality, fire protection and water service reliability to residents.
The waterline replacement and resurfacing of Richmond Street will cost about $2.1 million, city officials said.
Other roads that are part of the 2014-18 road plan are Belmont Drive, Courtland Street, East Prospect Street, Elm Street, Erie Street, Fern Drive, Gillett Street, Hillside Drive, Hine Avenue, Levan Drive, Lexington Avenue, Lusard Street, Marion Avenue, Richmond Street, Rockwood Drive, North State Street, Parmly Place, Pearl Street, Stage Avenue, Transit Street, West Walnut Street, West Washington Street, Williams Street and Wood Street
The city also recently released a five-year road plan set for 2019 to 2023.
“Roads are what is most important to our city right now,” Painesville City Manager Monica Irelan previously said. “I’m very proud of the investment we are making.”
