Steve Charles Szepesi, age 81, passed away May 25, 2018 at Blake Hospital, following a short but difficult illness.

Born March 20, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio to Steven C. Szepesi and Marga(both ret Szekley of Youngstown, OH deceased).

Steve served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1969 - upon his discharge he moved to Madison, Ohio. He met Shirley and her four boys at this time. They spent many years living in and around Northeast Ohio.

Steve worked as a Sr. Manufactur­ing Engineer at Parker Hannifin Corporatio­n for many years until retiring in 1994. He started out working with his father as a tool and die maker, eventually making his way up to Sr. Manufactur­ing Engineer. He was so proud to have received the title of Sr. Manufactur­ing Engineer, as he was the first to receive that honor without a college degree.

Steve was very involved in community activity. He was a member of the VFW Post #609. He will be especially remem with bered for his enjoyment in helping others, playing slots his dearest friend - Peggy, scratching lottery tickets, mixing with new friends in Veranda Springs, Florida, and loving on his youngest grandchild­ren up until his passing.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Shirley; their daugh Flor Woodland, ter, Catherine M. (Szepesi) Gundy (Ryan), of Palmetto, ida; and his son, Steve M. Szepesi (Sherri), of California. He is also survived by his step-children, James E. Marshall, Jeffrey E. Marshall, Joseph A. Marshall (Anna), and John A. Marshall (Kelley); 20 grandchild­ren; and 23 grandchild­ren.

Steve is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret; his parents, Steve and Mildred (Ponsert); his sister, Margaret (Cookie) Cercek; and his niece, Kimberly Cercek.

There is currently no service planned. His ashes will be placed on the Szepesi family plot in Kirtland, Ohio in the summer of 2019. Condolence­s may be sent to his family at their homes. A special thank you to all of those that helped at the time of his passing, including those within our community, as well as the staff of Blake Hospital.
