Jean Garrett Strojan, 83, of Chardon, died at University Hospital in Cleveland, on August 30, 2018. She was born in Toledo, on January 11, 1935, to Harold and Elsie (Nee: Jenssen) Garrett. Jean received her Bachelor’s Degree from Wooster College, and her Master’s from Kent State University. She began her career in education as a biology teacher in South Euclid/Lyndhurst and finished her career as a Guidance Counselor at Chardon High School.

Jean came to Chardon from Cleveland in 1965. She volunteere­d for the Geauga Park District and for Women’s Safe. As an active member of the Community Church of Chesterlan­d, Jean served with her church family in many ways. She was well-travelled in the world; enjoyed the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, Play House Square and the Holden Arboretum; played the dulcimer with the Geauga Sweet Strings and she was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed the company of many friends and colleagues that she met over the years.

Survivors include her two daughters, Ellen Strojan of St. Simons Island, GA and Rebecca Strojan Weaver of Marietta, GA; and grandsons, Nathan and William Weaver.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Richard H. Garrett.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 3, 2018 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, OH. A Graveside Service will be on Tuesday, September 4, at 2:30 p.m. at Fowler’s Mill Cemetery, 12399 Fowlers Mill Road, Munson Twp., OH.
