Tony Fisher award quest carries on to Week 4

John Kampf updates how current candidates for the Tony Fisher award — The NewsHerald’s high school football player of the year honor — fared in Week 3 on the area gridiron.

This year’s award will be handed out Nov. 26, as part of a special edition of the Varsity Chalk Talk Show at Hooley House in Mentor, with Bill Tilton hosting. We will publish a weekly watch list for the top players in the area every week from now until the night of the show. This list is fluid and can change week to week. This week’s list, in alphabetic­al order: • Jacob Allen, Perry, Sr.: Caught three passes for 42 yards and a touchdown, and also had a touchdown run, in the Pirates’ 38-6 win over Madison. For the season, he has run for 113 yards, caught 11 passes for 177 yards and has scored four touchdowns. • C.J. Charleston, Gilmour, Sr.:

Carried six times for 181 yards and four touchdowns in the Lancers’ 61-22 win over Hawken. For the season, he has run for 593 yards and 13 touchdowns. • Nick Demchuk, Benedictin­e, Sr.:

Completed 15 of 25 passes for 277 yards and three touchdowns in the Bengals’ 55-21 loss to Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary. For the season, he has thrown for 848 yards and 11 touchdowns. • Alex Dragas, Madison, Jr.: Completed six of 21 passes for 36 yards in the Blue Streaks’ 38-6 loss to Perry. For the season, he has thrown for 600 yards and seven touchdowns. • Nick Gattozzi, NDCL, Sr.: Completed six of nine passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns, and also ran five times for 54 yards, in the Lions’ 42-0 win over Lorne Park (Canada). For the season, He has run for 199 yards and two touchdowns, and has thrown for 584 yards and eight touchdowns. • Ian Kipp, Mentor, So.:

Completed eight of 12 passes for 69 yards and a touchdown, and also ran for a pair of touchdowns, in the Cardinals’ 42-18 win over Glenville. For the season, he has thrown for 395 yards, run for 337 yards and scored six touchdowns. • Jake Neibecker, Kirtland, Sr.:

Carried nine times for 93 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a 56-yard touchdown pass, in the Hornets’ 35-0 win over Geneva. For the season, he has run for 333 yards with seven touchdowns. • Isaac Pettway, Wickliffe, Sr.:

Carried seven times for 131 yards and three touchdowns in the Blue Devils’ 42-0 win over East Tech. For the season, he has run for 364 yards and seven touchdowns. • Jack Porter, Kenston, Jr.: Carried 17 times for 105 yards and three touchdowns in the Bombers’ 37-0 win over West Geauga. For the season, he has run for 365 yards and seven touchdowns. • Nate Rieple, Lake Catholic, Sr.:

For the season he has run for 107 yards, caught five passes for 100 yards, scored five touchdowns and has 37 tackles on defense. • Drew Schiano, Perry, So.: Completed 16 of 17 passes for 275 yards and two touchdowns in the Pirates’ 38-6 win over Madison. For the season, he has thrown for 801 yards and nine touchdowns. • Rico Small, South, Sr.: Caught three passes for 42 yards and a touchdown in the Rebels’ 31-7 win over Brecksvill­e-Broadview Heights. For the season, he has caught 242 yards of passes with four touchdowns. • Jon Tomcufcik, Kenston, Jr.:

Completed 15 of 25 passes for 206 yards, and also ran for a score in the Bombers’ 37-0 win over West Geauga. For the season, he has thrown for 651 yards and five touchdowns, while also running for two scores. • Joey Torok, Kirtland, Sr.: Carried 12 times for 103 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught two passes for 18 yards, in the Hornets’ 35-0 win over Geneva. For the season, He has run for 338 yards and has scored six touchdowns. • Brian Trobel, Mentor, Jr.: Carried 15 times for 121 yards and two touchdowns in the Cardinals’ 42-18 win over Glenville. For the season, he has run for 402 yards and scored eight touchdowns.
