Health District division to close for 2 days

The Environmen­tal Health Division of the Geauga County Health District will be closed for renovation.

The offices will be closed from noon, Oct. 25, through Oct. 26, according to a news release. The office will also be unavailabl­e by phone.

It will reopen at 8 a.m., Oct. 29.

Geauga Democrats set Candidates’ Night

The Geauga County Democratic Party will host its monthly Hot Topic, “Candidates’ Night” at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 25, at the county Democratic Headquarte­rs and Social Hall, 12420 Kinsman Road in Newbury Township.

Doors open at 6:30 for a spaghetti and meatball dinner served at 7 p.m. A $10 donation is suggested.

Attendees can meet the candidates for the 2018 Midterm Elections and talk about the ups and downs of this campaign season, according to a news release. Attendees also can share their feelings about national, state and local issues.

Public forum for comprenhen­sive plan

Chardon City Council and city Planning Commission members are holding a public forum at 7 p.m., Oct. 29, at 7:00 p.m., at Heritage House on the Square.

The purpose of the forum is to discuss proposed changes to the city’s comprehens­ive plan, according to a news release.

Residents and business owners are encourage to attend and hear about the proposed changes and share issues, concerns or suggestion­s, the release stated.

Wickliffe church holds festival for children

Vineyard Community Church will be hosting a “family-friendly” Kids’ Fall Harvest Festival on Oct. 31.

Participan­ts are invited to come in costume and there will be games, prizes, candy, food, and refreshmen­ts.

The free event that is open to the community will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church, 1928 E. 300th St. in Wickliffe.

Students hosting fish fry in Fairport

The Hooked on Education Personaliz­ed Learning Students are throwing a fish fry on Nov. 5 in Fairport Harbor.

Tickets are currently available for a 6:15 p.m. seating or a 7:15 p.m. seating at the Fairport Senior Center, 1380 East St.

Tickets are free but need to be requested. Provide seating time preference and number of people to CClair@ fhevs.org, NRock@fhevs. org, or call 440-3545400, ext 102.

Also, Hooked on Salsa!-Students worked at the Community Garden to grow vegetables and harvested their rewards. They then worked with a chef to learn how to make salsa and made over 70 jars of salsa which will be sold at the fish fry.

Program to look at refloxolog­y benefits

Those interested in learning about reflexolog­y and how it works are invited to join Denise Brown, from 6 to 7 p.m., Nov. 6, at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Wellness Campus, 8655 Market St. in Mentor.

She will discuss the history of reflexolog­y and the benefits it can have on a person, according to a news release. Attendees can take home some tips to enhance their own health with self-reflexolog­y.
