Laketran to offer vets free rides on Nov. 12
In observance of Veterans Day, Laketran will be offering free rides to veterans on Nov. 12.
Riders on Local Routes and Park-n-Ride will need to inform their driver that they are a veteran when they board the bus, and their trip will be free, according to a news release. Dial-a-Ride customers should inform Laketran of their veteran status when scheduling their reservation.
“Laketran and its employees salute our nation’s veterans and thank them for their service,” Laketran CEO Ben Capelle said in a news release.
“There are never enough opportunities for people to show their appreciation for the sacrifice our veterans make for our country. Offering free rides is the least we can do.”
Laketran also offers free Veterans Medical Transportation service year-round to Lake County veterans.
Laketran partners with Lake County Veterans Service Commission and the Lake County commissioners to provide free doorto-door, Dial-a-Ride transportation for county veterans and their spouses to the county’s new VA outpatient clinic in Willoughby, the Veterans Service Center in downtown Painesville, and the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in University Circle, the release stated.
Laketran and the VSC recently expanded the program subsidizing free Diala-Ride transportation to any adult day care or med- ical appointment for Lake County veterans, either in the county or to University Circle area hospitals. Veterans must register with Lake County Veterans Service Commission to be eligible for free medical transportation, the release stated.
Last year, Laketran provided 8,454 free rides for veterans to access their medical appointments.
