Tri-C sets next Encore Campus Fridays

The Encore Campus Fridays program at Cuyahoga Community College will start new sessions of classes in January and March, aimed at enriching the minds and lives of those ages 55 and older.

The winter program begins Jan. 25 and runs every Friday for seven weeks at Eastern Campus in Highland Hills and Western Campus in Parma, according to a news release.

Age-eligible students can enroll in one to six courses for one fee of $99. The 50-minute classes take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

A second seven-week spring session will also be offered at both sites beginning March 22, with the same cost and class times.

Registrati­on for both sessions opens Dec. 11.

The overall course catalog features more than 100 options on a wide variety of subjects, including art, cinema, computers, history, music, religion, science, yoga and more, according to the release.

Classes are taught by Tri-C faculty, retired educators and subject experts.

Klimt is topic of Jan. 9 luncheon

The Women’s Committee of The Fine Arts Associatio­n announced the January edition of its “Second Wednesday” luncheon program will focus on Gustav Klimt.

Art historian Felicia Zavarella Stadelman will lecture about this artist from Vienna on Jan. 9.

Open house set for Learning Loft

Families with 2 ½ -year-olds or preschoole­rs are invited to St. Gabriel School’s Learning Loft Open House on Jan. 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., or Jan. 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Families will have an opportunit­y to meet the Preschool team, join in some activities, and ask questions regarding the school, according to a news release.

Lupus support group meeting Jan. 7

The Lupus Foundation of America’s Greater Ohio Chapter will be holding its monthly Willoughby Support Group from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Jan. 7.

The support group will take place at the Willoughby Library, 30 Public Square.

This support group is an open, small-group environmen­t which encourages discussion among lupus patients and their families, according to a news release. It is a place where those affected by lupus can share their experience­s, ask questions, learn and seek help in a safe environmen­t.

Most discussion­s at the support group focus on the “how-to’s” of living with a chronic illness, the release stated.
