Two police officers promoted

The Willoughby Police Department promoted two of its standout officers with a swearing-in ceremony, during a recent city council meeting.

On Feb. 5, officer John Begovic was promoted to lieutenant and officer Toby Davis was promoted to the rank of sergeant.

Chief Jack Beckwith introduced the officers and their families, and Mayor Bob Fiala conducted the swear-ins.

“It’s always an exciting time for the department to do these promotions,” Beckwith said after the ceremony.

“It’s great to see new guys moving up... They’ll do a great job, they’ve just both proven themselves to be terrific.”

The promotion ceremony was attended by the officers’ families as well as members of the Willoughby police and fire departments.

“Both of these guys — you can tell by the turnout from the department, they’ll well respected by their peers,” Beckwith said.
