Stanton Park to update windows
Trustees to use NOPEC Energized Community Grant funds for project.
Grant funding is playing a big part in making improvements to the banquet hall at Bill Stanton Community Park in Madison Township.
Last year, the township was awarded a Community Development Block Grant to upgrade restrooms in the Stanton Park banquet hall. As part of these improvements, the restrooms will be equipped with features to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Total estimated cost of this project is $111,550, with $85,500 coming from the grant, along with a $26,050 local match, township Administrator Tim Brown said.
Then, on Feb. 26, township trustees passed resolutions to use money from a separate grant program to buy and install new windows for the same building.
Trustees agreed to purchase energy-efficient replacement windows from Pella Windows and Door Show Room of Mentor for
about $16,345. They also approved a pact for $3,975 to have RLS Builders of Perry install those windows.
Both initiatives are being paid for with funds from Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council Energized Community Grants. The township received a 2019 NOPEC grant for $47,362, and has a $31,000 carryover from the same program last year that wasn’t used.
Besides providing new windows for the Stanton Park banquet hall, Energized Community Grant money also will be used to install a new heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit for the township Administration Building.
In separate action at the Feb. 26 meeting, trustees approved a resolution to remove and replace floor tile in the banquet hall that was damaged during renovation of restrooms at the site. The township will pay Lake Carpet and Mattress of Madison $8,800 to complete the endeavor.
It’s hoped that the banquet hall restroom work will be finished by March 9, Brown said. Target date for completion of the flooring and window projects is May 1.
Township Trustee Max Anderson Jr. said these improvements will make the banquet hall much more appealing to anyone using the building.
“It’s going to be nice once all the new windows are in, floors done and all the new ADA compliant restrooms are installed,” Anderson said. “It will be great for any weddings or any kind of functions going on there.”
Completion of the reception hall addition and renovations is anticipated in August.
