Designers plan for 2019 Dream House
The multi-purpose room of the Lake County YMCA in Painesville was recently decked out with design plans for the 2019 Dream House being built in the Maple Valley Subdivision in Willoughby Hills.
Design boards featuring specific elements to be used throughout the modern farmhouse-style house were presented by each designer at the gathering also attended by others associated with the project.
Showing plans for a family theater and accompanying smoothie bar in the 1,000-square-foot lower level was Carolyn Rigo of Interiors by Carolyn Rigo based in Painesville Township.
Rigo said her goal is to create a family-friendly environment with comfortable furnishings including a distinctive hanging chair.
Dave Saifman, who serves as the Lake County YMCA director of marketing and communications, donned yet another hat for the organization as he and Dream House project coordinator Kirk Stonebrook took over design duties for a fitness room in the lower level.
A treadmill, exercise bike and other fitness equipment will fill the room along with posters promoting the YMCA’s focus on healthy living, social responsibility and youth development.
On the main floor Katie Ryan of Probuilt Homes is handling kitchen and breakfast room décor. Gray hues accented by matte black fixtures will enhance the area which will include a dining table, island and contemporary appliances with titanium finishes.
Grays are also set to be used in the dining room decorated by Kathy Snowbrick of Sheraton Furniture. Table and chairs will carry color tones of gunpowder and nickel.
“It’s gonna be gorgeous,” Snowbrick said.
The Great Room, designed by Lindsay Davis of Probuilt Homes, will highlight custom beams and a 3-foot chandelier to fit the scale of the two-story space. A fireplace topped by a thin modern mantel and constructed between large windows overlooking the home’s natural surroundings is another of the room’s dramatic elements.

a tray ceiling, one of several decorative ceilings to be produced throughout the house.
Davis noted that touches of gold tones will be used “to glam up the farmhouse style.” A patterned tile will serve as a focal point in the suite’s bath.
On the upper level Robyn Spataro of Firenza Stone in Eastlake will use her design skills for a teen girl’s bedroom plus a room with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) influence, including a 3-D printer.
The entrance to a preteen’s “hideaway” designed by Davis on the upper level will show off a dimensional lighthouse through which youngsters can climb on their way to a nautical-inspired room with custom loft-style beds.
McCaskey Landscape and Design of Chardon is working outdoors on the one-acre lot with special attention directed toward incorporating the on-site pond in the design.
Tim McCaskey and Craig Barstow noted that natural stones will create a path from the house to the pond where an intimate patio will be placed at the water’s edge. A larger patio with kitchenette and grill will adjoin the rear of the house with the possible addition of a watering pump and trough to support its style.

ProBuilt Homes President George Davis said construction had a slow start because of inclement weather conditions, but now is ahead of schedule.
Drywall has been completed and interior painting as well as outdoor siding work will begin within the next few weeks.
“The hard part is done. Nothing can stop us now,” Davis said.
