Former Willoughby Mayor David Anderson and Alliance for Working Together Executive Director Alice Cable were sworn in this week for three-year terms to Laketran’s board of trustees.

Laketran is governed by a volunteer nine-member board appointed by the Lake County commissioners. The board provides the agency fiduciary oversight and establishes policies to ensure services that best fit the needs of the community.

Anderson, known for spearheading the revitalization of Willoughby, retired as the city’s mayor in 2017 and brings more than 30 years of government administration and civic engagement

expertise to the agency.

Anderson said Laketran has always been strategic in meeting the needs of the community, primarily the county’s seniors.

“In my years of public service, we could always rely on Laketran,” he added. “I’m looking forward to learning more about the agency in this new role and continuing to do great things for the residents of Lake County.”

Cable, a resident of Fairport Harbor, promotes careers in manufacturing, focusing on workforce development in her role at Alliance for Working Together. She was on Laketran’s Tyler Boulevard stakeholder group that assessed the transit needs to improve job access along Lake County’s most dense industrial corridor which led to the launch of a new service earlier this year.

“I’m excited to join the Laketran board,” Cable said.

“There is so much discussion about mobility and job access, not just for the manufacturing sector but agriculture, retail and service industries, too. I am hoping we can continue to work to solve any transportation barriers to employment here in Lake County.”

Donna McNamee, of Willoughby, was also reappointed to serve an additional term. McNamee has served on the board since 2001 and is recognized nationally as an advocate for people with disabilities and public transportation.

“We are very excited to have both Dave and Alice join our team here at Laketran,” said Board President Brian Falkowski. “They have both been supporters of Laketran for many years, as has Donna. They all bring very unique backgrounds and skills and I look forward to working together with all of them.”

Laketran board meetings are open to the public and meet the fourth Monday of each month.
